Neuropsychological Evaluations
A neuropsychological evaluation is an assessment of how one's brain functions and provides indirect information about the structural and functional integrity of the brain. The neuropsychological evaluation involves an interview and administration of standardized tests. The tests are typically pencil and paper type tests, though there might be some computerized tasks. Sometimes included as part of your neuropsychological evaluation or as a separate assessment is a psychological evaluation, which focuses primarily on understanding patterns of emotional, behavioral, and personality functioning. Undergoing a neuropsychological and/or psychological evaluation can help to answer those questions and provide a roadmap for addressing those concerns.
Assessment areas include:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc.)
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
Sports-related concussion
Traumatic brain injury
Neurodegenerative conditions/dementia
Capacity-related considerations
Seizure disorder / Epilepsy
Stroke
Movement disorders
Cancer
Emotional distress (i.e., depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, among others)
